South Florida Fishing Update

If you haven’t been fishing recently then you are missing out on some of the best fishing we have had in South Florida recently. North Biscayne Bay has had a lot of bait over some of the grass flats and we have been able to fill the well with all the bait we have needed for a days fishing.
Most of my trips recently have been offshore because the winds have been down and the dolphin, kingfish and bonitos plus mutton snappers and red groupers have been biting on almost every trip. The kingfish have been good size anywhere from 8 pounds to over 20 pounds and the dolphins have been running from little schoolies to fish over 30 pounds and they have not been that far offshore. We have been targeting the kings and bonitos early and then going offshore for the dolphins and then back to the reef later in the day.
Inshore sea trout, small snook, barracudas, jacks to 9 pounds, small tarpon, an occasional mackerel and snappers having been biting. At night small tarpon, ladyfish and snook are biting on the dock lights and bridge shadow lines.
I haven’t been to Flamingo since a day before Fay but the waters have cleared up at least in Florida Bay where snook, sea trout, redfish, tarpon and sharks have been biting and in the open Gulf Spanish mackerel, bluefish, jacks, cobia, tripletail and permit have been available.
